New Zealand set to join Madrid Protocol
New Zealand is set to join 84 other countries that have signed up to the Madrid Protocol. The Trade Marks Amendment Act 2011 allows for the establishment of the mechanisms required to adhere to the Protocol. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Economic Development has indicated that New Zealand will implement the Madrid Protocol in the second half of next year. A precise commencement date will be announced in early 2012.
