Elena’s practice covers the development, establishment, management, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights, specialising in trade marks, and domain names. Elena joined Henry Hughes in 1992 and became a Principal in 2002.
Clients represented by Elena operate in a range of industries, and include pharmaceutical, fast-moving consumer goods, food products, cosmetics, sporting, fashion, IT, financial, entertainment and hospitality industries.
Elena is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys (NZIPA) and in November 2009 joined the NZIPA Council. Elena is also a member of the International Trade Mark Association (INTA), Intellectual Property Society of Australia & New Zealand (IPSANZ) and Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA).
Elena has presented on aspects of Intellectual Property Law to Business students at Victoria University of Wellington and students of Natcoll Design Technology and frequently writes about trade mark issues for industry publications. She continues to contribute to Intellectual Property Law development in New Zealand as a member of the Trade Mark Technical Focus Group.
