David is a Registered Patent Attorney in Australia and New Zealand and a Director of Henry Hughes IP Ltd. David’s expertise is particularly in the chemical and life sciences field where he advises international and local clients on all aspects of patent procedure, including:
- Patent Drafting
- Patent Prosecution
- Patent Opposition
- Freedom to operate searches and opinions
- Validity opinions
- Prior Art searches
David is an expert in all matters relating to the Patents Act 2013 and led the Henry Hughes response to the regulations drafted under this Act. He has given both internal and external presentations on the provisions of the Act and accompanying regulations.
David graduated from the University of Auckland in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biological Sciences, and in 2007 with a Bachelor of Laws. Prior to joining Henry Hughes in 2009, David was a Senior Patent Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.
David is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys.
